your body. your mind. your life.

it’s time to soar.

It’s time to take care of yourself, become the best you can be, and do the things you want to do with your life. Whether you’re mostly healthy but striving to be as awesome as possible, or you have specific health & wellness challenges that you’re ready to overcome, my job is to arm you with the tools best suited to you to accomplish your goals.

clarity

Working with me means knowing that you’ve got a partner in your health journey who is there to support you, keep you accountable and push you when it’s needed. I have over 15 years of expertise in medical case management and clinical experience, working exclusively with busy urban professionals.

I value the importance of good communication and love to ensure that you fully understand not only the treatment recommendations we decide on together, but the implications of those commitments.

Bonus points if you’re a new, or soon-to-be parent, entrepreneur, business executive or (former?) athlete - It’ll mean we have an immediate understanding of the challenges of balancing work, career, and family, with a competitive attitude.

trust & partnership

I believe in focusing on the things you want to do with your life, and always keeping things aimed at positive, future-oriented outcomes. That doesn’t mean living outside the moment, but it means celebrating progress, and the things that are going right, more than we worry about the things that are going wrong.

When we’re taking action to prevent something bad from happening (prevention), it comes from a position of fear and anxiety. Instead, taking action to create the outcomes we desire facilitates confidence and empowerment, making you feel more capable of controlling your life.

proactivity

I balance hopeful idealism with practical realism. I’m all about ensuring that we agree on a plan that is not only safe and cost-effective, but more importantly, a plan that you are confident and capable of sustaining. My father was an engineer, and his work was all about optimizing systems - getting things working in the most efficient, cost-effective way possible.  My mother was a teacher, who values context and the importance of understanding that everyone is unique, and who ensured that people got the resources they needed to succeed.  It took me over a decade in practice to realize how much my parents’ legacies impacted my style of practice, but it’s the basis for how I approach my work with you.

Let’s work together to find real-world solutions that fit your lifestyle, personal preferences, schedule, budget and willingness to commit to.

pragmatism

I’ve coached sports up to the varsity level my whole life, I hold a Certificate in Organizational Coaching from the University of British Columbia, and I was a personal trainer early in my career.  I hold an Honours Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology from St. Francis Xavier University.  I studied the effect of imagery training in self-efficacy and sport confidence in elite athletes for my Honours thesis.  And I’m a single Dad to two young kids.  I apply my training from all of these experiences every day in working with you.

Coaching is about getting the most out of your athletes, students, clients, or in my case, my patients.  Ensuring your success is about ensuring you have the tools and resources needed, the accountability required, and the sense of efficacy or control that will keep you motivated.  That’s what makes me different from working with most other doctors, I think.
